Hi from NYC and Stratford Ct!

Hi all,

I have very fond memories of sailing with my father when I was very young, but unfortunately he sold the boat before I was old enough to learn to sail. Now as an adult I want to learn how and someday pass the knowledge to my kids.

I live in Brooklyn NY, but last year we purchased a second home in Stratford Ct, the Lordship neighborhood - surrounded by water. ...making me one step closer to becoming a sailor.

Recently while discussing my sailing dreams with a Lordship neighbor he was kind enough to offer me an unfinished Sunfish project (minor referb to be exact) and the promises to teach me to sail. He has his Sunfish and we plan to sail/race/enjoy the boats together.

Anyway... I have a few tech question that I will post in the appropriate area. And I hope to hear and learn from you guys.

~ Carl

PS - anyone local who needs a novice crew I'm up for the task. ...and will bring beer.

Welcome! Sounds like you have a good plan. Good luck with the repairs!

Sunfish are fun, and the great thing is that you can't really hurt them. If you make a mistake you might capsize, but you just right it and go on your way. I learned to sail on them. Normally capsized when I got hot, as it made for a nice excuse to get wet and cool off!
