Good morning from NW Indiana

Hello from . I'm 34 and have recently been bitten by the sailing bug. I live about an hour from Lake Michigan and am looking forward to learning how to sail as I have never experienced it except for a sunset cruise in St Pete a number of years ago. I have a lot of powerboat experience on smaller lakes and on the icw around St Pete.

I cannot explain why I have this urge start sailing, but i just feel that it is something that I need to do. I think that it appeals to me to be completely self sufficient out on the open water. I am fascinated by all aspects of the sport and could see myself getting into some form of racing as well.

I'm not really sure how to get started as I don't know anyone who sails, but I'm tired of waiting for an opportunity to just "come up," so I've been thinking of just taking an ASA course, or joining the Chicago Yacht Club just to start making some sailing connections.

Anyways, thanks for all the information that you all contribute to this forum.

Re: Good morning from NW Indiana

Have fun, sailing is far more challenging, interesting and ultimately more rewarding than steering a stinkpot in a straight line
