Cool Ahoy!

Hello fellow mateys - Haling from the beautiful "Finger Lakes" in Upstate NY. We live 2 miles form Seneca Lake and are excited to join the community. After owning several smaller sailboats over the years, My GF and I have recently 'graduated' to a 22' Catalina. It's a nice starter to 'learn' all of the ropes on. I have sailed 'K' Boats and sailed 'ON' my brother's 42' Catalina but I've never actually set-up a 'real' boat. Trying to re-familiarize ourselves by studying the nomenclature. We do plan on retiring to live onboard 75% of the time - taking a hotel in at select locations along the East Coast. I do have a question; "Is it practical to think of sailing down the inner coastal seaway on a 22' sailboat"? I hope we can live fairly comfortably on this boat as I acknowledge my aging body and am not sure if i could commandeer anything much bigger. I'll leave it at that for now - getting quite windy -lol. Any advice is welcome - thanks for taking the time. >>>-->Matt and Sheri

Hello, I run the Waterway here when the ocean is rough and have a blast. The only thing is to watch out for the Tugs and Barges.

Re: Ahoy!

Welcome to SailNet.

This is an interesting approach if I understand correctly. You plan to retire on the C22 by using it to sail between locations but then stay at a hotel once you get there?

Be aware that most of the ICW is motoring, not sailing. Be sure your motor is in tip top shape to get you through the currents.
