According to quick and dirty measurements on ActiveCaptain, you're looking at about 90 NM. The general rule of thumb is that you'll average about 5 knots, so you're looking at about 18 hours. That's 2 good days in the summer, but with the days getting shorter, you're going to be basically going sun up to sundown both days, unless you're sailing at night. Given the pretty significant number of commercial vessels, that may not be the best choice, but I tend to be a chicken.

I suggest you click over to ActiveCaptain.com, register (for free) and figure out a course for yourself as no one can tell what would be comfortable for you. Coasting all the way up will be torture. I'd go from Dana to Two Harbors on Catalina, then north to Paradise Cove and then around the bend to Channel Islands. What will work for you will depend upon your skill level and the condition of your boat.

Best bet is to head for Two Harbors/Catalina for the first leg and then head of to Channel Island Harbor. It'll break up the trip into two doable legs and gives you a chance to enjoy Catalina. It's rally nice this time of the year.

Dana Point to King Harbor/Redondo Beach -- ~50 nm
Like Dana Point, you can anchor overnight in the outer harbor of King Harbor (for free, I think; call the Harbormaster's office for details)
King Harbor to Channel Islands Harbor/Oxnard -- ~50 nm

Never forget them. Do something to prevent it from happening again.
