RestlessWind is on a distinguished road
Hi all ! Newbie from Illinois

Just wanted to introduce myself to y'all. My name is Don, and I am from central Illinois. I am a semi-retired nurse and am currently nursing the dream of living aboard and cruising the coast. I have been lurking here for quite a while learning from all of you(many thanks!) as well as reading every book I can find on the subject. My plan is to take some formal sailing/seamanship classes, and then get some experience before selling the house and buying a floating home. Might take a day or two, eh?

While I have virtually no experience sailing, I have done quite a bit of motorboating and canoeing on the Mississippi and in local lakes. Just enough to know that I need to know a whole lot more before heading out to saltwater!

I am sure that I will have many questions, and probably more than a few of them will be very silly to those with more experience, so I will ask up-front that you be kind.

BTW, I thoroughly enjoy the repartee that adds so much to the enjoyment of this site.
And to Giulietta: Sorry, but I have no pics to share. The last one taken of me destroyed the camera, and I wouldn't want to crash your photoshop or computer. We all need for you to continue making those excellent instructional sailing videos, each one worth more than any two books I have read on the subject!
P.S. this is the second attempt to post my introduction, the first one did not seem to take, so if this winds up being a repeat, please accept apologies from one not so computer literate
