Cool Hello from inland CA

Hello Everyone,

I am a 25 year old who was born on the water. I spent my first two years on a boat in Alaska (born in Juneau, thus my screen name).

Once I save up a bit of money, I'm looking to go back to my roots and buy myself a small sailboat (probably 30' or so) to live on and escape on the weekends.

Any advice is welcomed, and I can't wait to get back on the water.

Thanks!

Welcome:

I have some basic advice for you. Get yourself a small trailerable or car-toppable boat, like a Laser or a Lido 14. You should be able to get a nice one for $1,500. Take some lessons and learn to sail her.

You'll be able to sell the boat for what you paid for it, probably, and you'll have good experience before you get your big boat.

Where are you located, specifically? You may find someone here to help you out.

Linden, California

I'm currently located in Linden, which is east of Stockton, which is about an hour south of Sacramento.

Hopefully that gives enough information

As for experience, that is probably sound advice. I have been out sailing with friends who have a large boat, and I used to go sailing in the dinghy my parents had, but I have not had any single hand experience.
