Just getting started

Hi there, my name is Jim and I am just getting started in sailing. I have been windsurfing for a few years and now that my kids are getting old enough to want to go out I needed something we could all do. I bought a Cal 20 with a broken mast for $400, replaced that mast and have now been going out about every weekend to figure this whole thing out. So far so good.

I'm in Gunnison Colorado sailing on Blue Mesa reservoir. It is the largest lake in Colorado at about 26 miles long and 1 to 3 miles wide depending on where you are. So far the kids are having a ball. I have a 7, 5 and 1 year old. The older two right now are my driftwood watch and the young one hangs out down below while mom helps me out in the cockpit. Once we get all our proceedures a little more ironed out I will start teaching the kids to be more active crew.
