New to the site - no more lurking

As the title says, I've been lurking for a while.
Thought I'd say hi. As the time comes to cast off my landlocked home for that of a mobile -er, uh... home... I'll have taken all that I've learned here and from the myriad books that have been suggested here to make the next chapter a successful one.

Having spent 6 years cruising the North and South Pacific crewing one of Uncle Sam's big gray luxury liners ;-) I found I can't stay away and I'm maintaining my sea-legs single handing a Cal20. My eyes are set on a Pearson 27 for the crew comforts and reasonable size justification for ditch sailing on the Columbia River onboard what my racing friends dub a water-bago.
