and we're off!!!

Hi, after lurking around here for quite a while and posting very little the time has come to say hello and share a bit about “Plan b”. I have been re-fitting my 1978 S2 9.2c Plan b since 2004 and living aboard the entire time, including 11 months on the hard. (In all fairness, I work on a ship half the year so everything took twice as long.) I purchased the boat at auction in derelict condition with some structural damage knowing the road would be long and hard but I purchased what I could afford, moved aboard and went to work, go small – go now. I hauled the boat and had 330 blisters, that’s right 330. I did a complete bottom peal, dried out for 8 months and put on a new bottom, engine, rigging (standing &running), sanitation system, paint, dodger & enclosure, refrigerator & freezer, 300 amps of batteries… and a bunch of other stuff. All that in addition to replacing the main floor frame and two chain plate bulkheads, new teak and holly… well, you get the idea. I have had my hands on every square inch my boat, inside and out. It just kept going and one thing led to another until, well, I think I’m ready to go. I have to attend a class in Tampa when I get off the ship so now the plan is to depart Cape Canaveral, FL around mid March for a shakedown/breakdown cruise to Tampa. Well, that’s it. I just wanted to let you know about us.
Hope to see you out there,
Mike

Wow! You surely are ambitious, but it sounds like you did what needed to be done. Did you take before, during and after pictures? Would love to see them, if you did. Bill and I also did a complete gut and rebuild of SeaWolf and are extremely happy with the results. We started in 2001, moved aboard in 2002 and have finally finished up and are getting ready to do some cruising again. Can't wait! You can check out our pictures on the SeaWolf link on our website.

Look forward to seeing you out there. Have fun and keep the shiny side up!

The marina won't tie you down. they will give you the stakes, if you bug them, but it's up to you to secure your boat.
