New Las Vegas Sailor

Greetings. I started reading these forums and soaking in information after a recent vacation to Belize and sudden inspiration to try and get into sailing.

I just completed a basic keelboat course offered by the Nevada Yacht Club over the weekend here at Lake Mead and it was a great experience. This was my first step by answering the question "Will I even like to sail?" I figured I would, but after the 6-7 hours spent on the lake I think I've really found a new passion.

I'm going to join this yacht club and hopefully get a chance to help crew some boats that belong to other members throughout this and the following year. I'm holding off on buying a boat until I get more experience. I also don't know my long term plans after I finish graduate school at UNLV, so buying a boat will have to wait until I figure out where I end up.

I'll probably start speaking up more and ask questions as I get more into sailing, but for now, I'm saying Hello to everyone! With an ulterior motive of possibly making more connections in Las Vegas for sailing opportunities.
