Hello from Lil' Old England!
Well, first of all can I comment that I'm particularly impressed by this forum recognising England as a country! Instead of "UK" or the worst one of all "Britain"...
Now onto me and why I'm on here.
Throughout my (admittedly) short life, I've always been into sports. Rugby, rock climbing, skiing, sailing, kayaking, skydiving and onwards and upwards.
Yachting and sailing have always been something that I was interested in, but never really had the chance to try.
So, at the age of 12, me and some friends went to the beach, just for giggles, and rented out a small dinghy, we were hooked!
From then on we initially bought a terrible dinghy, called a Bosun, I believe built by bossoms boatyard, for £150. We carried on teaching ourselves all the way through, until eventually, when we were 16, we had a crew of three, racing most weekends, in a Laser Stratos.
Now, however, I want to move onwards and upwards, and am looking more and more at yachting. Something I don't have a clue about, only stepping on one when I must of been about 6. And I personally don't think I'd be able to go out and buy one and teach myself, as I did with the dinghys.
Currently I believe I'm in the perfect position to learn, being "unemployed" so to speak, but still getting income (its a long story, don't ask).
So I'm on here to listen to experiences, and try and get a basic grasp of some simple tasks (well, grasp in my head if I make sense) and just understand what I'm getting myself in for, before I go and book a course!
Well, that was a long intro, and mostly waffle. Sorry guys.
