Hello from Alabama

Greetings all,

Name is Jim. I'm a sailor without a boat - that's sad. Have sailed off and on (daysailers mostly) for a number of years. I've been fortunate to sail Monterey Bay and the Chesapeake (sp?). I learned to sail on Lake Chimsee in Germany in the early 80's. Most recently I have sailed in Key West this past winter.

Looking forward to the discussions of sailboats and sailing. Will be trying to figure out the best way to get some quality sailing time while living in north Alabama.

MP, where in north Alabama are you? I'm on Lake Guntersville and there's lots of opportunities here.

Thanks Smacky. I've been so busy the last few months putting the finishing touches on the house (for sale) that I haven't had much time for the Net or anything else. Only now getting some breathing room and with cooler weather coming to Alabama soon, we'll be spending much more time on the water. Great sailing season here--September to June.

Thanks Pat. I'm over in Scottsboro. Relatively new to the area - and I haven't gotten out on the Lake very much.

Check out lake guntersville sailing club dot com. You'll see the activity level of the club there. And starting in September, we'll start the Fall racing series again. We only have one rock-star wannabe and her nickname is Mad Dog. Everyone else lives more or less in the real world.

PM me with your phone number and I'll have you crew with me, to race or just to go out for a sail. You're probably closer to the club than I am in Huntsville. Just take Hwy 79 from Scottsboro. Go left where it Ts into US Hwy 431. Then 3/4 mile on the left is our marina. Lots of good folks there, and there is always someone who needs crew.
