Adventure!

Hello everyone!
My name is Alyssa.
I am new to sailnet.com and so happy to have found this resource.

I am a 21 year old student in Portland, OR. I will graduate in May and after that, hope to find a boat to help out on and sail the world.

My dream is to have a boat of my own within the next 5 years, and take off on grand adventures!

Anyone else here a big dreamer? Or had their dreams come true?

Ayssa

Watch out! This dream could be terminal! My wife and I bought into the dream when we left college in the early seventies and we've never moved off the boat. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew

terminal dream!

Haha...
That's what I'm hoping for!
I can't think of another way I'd rather live. I don't need much...but I do love a solid home. And with a boat, I can take my home with me wherever I go.

I am definitely planning to spend A LOT of time on boats before I buy one though...from a lot of the posts I've read through on the site it seems like that is one of the major pieces of advice - not to jump into anything I'm not ready for or I'll end up jumping ship!

So the plan, (the dream) is to own a boat and live on it, but I say within the next five years because I figure it will take me that long to a) get the money for a legitimate boat and b) to REALLY know that the dream is for me...

Thanks for the welcome wishes, guys!

Sounds like a sound plan Alyssa, I am basically doing the same thing though I am not sure about living aboard as I am in the upper midwest. Gets kinda chilly and snowy up here. I just need to be patient and get the right boat.

Welcome and Happy Holidas

Had a similar dream, then marriage, kids, job..etc..etc..

Now no marriage, kids are grown and I've rekindled the "Dream"

Making plans to "Live the Dream" not "Dream the Life"

Good luck to you, Assya

Stephen
