new guy

hey all,i'm new to this and hoping to pick up some good info and tips.i live in west virginia but i sail my cheoy lee 28 out of solomons,md.my 1st question;how difficult a passage is it from the chesapeake to ocracoke inlet?i'm thinking of going in may/june for one month mini cruise.i dont wanna spend my month motoring down the icw and back.might hit ocracoke and oriental.i'm a little worried about rounding cape hatteras,so if maybe the oregon inlet might be a wiser entrance, let me have some feedback about that.thanks
