new sailors
My partner and I bought a 27' Coronado this past summer. It's our first sailboat and we love it. Now we are sanding the bottom and sides to prep. for painting in the spring.

I've been able to gleam some useful information from this site about technique and boat up-keep.

thank you

If you are painting the topsides there will be many options. I like awl-grip, because of the fact painted with roller, and brush. It will pass the 5ft. test, and if its white. You will need to put your nose against the paint to see flaws.

I got a quote of $10k to paint my boat. It cost me about $500.00 at the most, and I am at least 4 times bigger than you. Took about 4 days to prep, and paint.......i2f

where are ya'll doing the work?

We are doing our work at a local boat yard. It's a working boat yard with power and water. For the last couple of weeks we've been hampered by the weather but we have the bottom sanded nicely and started working on the sides. We work anytime it isn't raining or snowing...we want to have plenty of time to do it right but not miss any sailing time.

Our original plan involved pulling the motor out and rebuilding while repainting the whole boat. We quickly figured out that it would be not much and be ready to go by May.

Thank you for your interest.
