Greetings, I've been lurking on here for awhile and since my sailing days are about to offically start I figure I should also start posting.
I've been contemplating sailing for a little over a year now after stumbling on some cruising blogs and this website. My knowledge is very limited (ASA keelboat class and a couple of day sails on other people's boats) and reading as many sailking books as i can. I just purchased a 1984 endeavour 33 and am about to take several more ASA courses, power squadren and private lessons on my boat.
I am 39 years old and am eligable for an early retirement, somewhere between now and 10 years (when i get a full retirement) I plan on sailing off into the sunset. I am hoping to take 1 year off in the next 3-5 years to cruise the carribean before possibly (or maybe just staying in the carribean) returning to work to increase the pension.
I know I have alot to learn, but after spending so may years in an office as my spirit slowly dies form being confined in my office walls I am once again very excited about the present and future.
