new to sailnet

Hi! Just joined to learn about certain sailboats. Looking to purchase fairly soon. We looked at a J/30 and am now looking into a Pearson 303. Any suggestions or advice would be great.

Thanks!!

Welecome aboard. Your plan sounds much better than mine was. I was looking for uncertain sailboats.

RP - I had the same idea's and similar boats in mind after learning (still learning) to sail. But fortunately encountered sailor friends that talked me into chartering first - buying later. Chartered 2 x BVI and 2 x Lake Superior - different boats and sizes each time to get a feel for what is managable by me and first mate and what features were desired / required for happiness on the water. Read a lot of articles on this site and reviews of all boats considered as well as more than a few "Buying a Sailboat" articles. Maybe you have done that already - if so - good luck and welcome to sailing!
