Hello Sailnet

Hey everybody,

I'm a new member here and all I want to do is learn. I'm an 18 year old college kid from Long Island, NY who is studying at Depaul University in Chicago. Moving from the south shore of Long Island to the shore of Lake Michigan I haven't stopped being surrounded by sail boats. Somehow I've never learned to sail.

So I come here to acquire as much knowledge as I can so hopefully I can get out there myself sometime. This way I'll stop just gawking at these boats from a distance, haha.

I used to go with my girlfriend to the south street seaport in Manhattan. She wanted to shop, I on the other hand could spend all day staring at those old school boats that they've got set up outside like museum exhibits. Oh, and lastly I'm saving up money this summer that I was going to use to buy a car but instead I think i might wanna go up to the north shore and take sailing lessons. Wish they weren't so expensive.

Anyway, hello everybody thanks in advance for everything I learn here and I hope I can contribute somethings to these forums.

Kudos to getting out here and posting that you are looking to crew.
You'll find the Chicago sailing community to be pretty tight knit, and incredibly friendly.
