How far south Brian? There is a a sailboat racing club called East Enders YC that races weekly between Burlington and Bristol.

Brian,

I'll assume you're 24 years old? The reason I ask is that lots of YC's have lessons that cater to 8 - 12 yo with nothing for older folks. One way to go is Hobiecat sailing in Ocean City Bay Cats - Ocean City New Jersey

If you are interested in larger boats and formal lessons through an ASA school, I recommend New Jersey sailing schools: instruction and lessons at Nelson Sailing Center. They are near Tom's River.

Of course, you can post yourself as "Available crew" On bulletin boards at sailing marinas, or even here http://www.sailnet.com/forums/crew-wanted/ You may have to be rail meat for a while, but it'll get you on a boat where you can learn.
