You cannot kick a dream
Hi all,
Just introducing myself. I grew up in the Pacific ocean off California and have long been crazy for the sea. I have been meaning to sail around the world since about 1980, but I got side tracked. Honey I think we should live on a sailboat! No, I don't think so. But now the kids are getting ready for college and I am sailing club boats on the weekend here in San Francisco, and learning about sailing and boats.
My hope is to get my own bluewater sailboat in the next year or two, with dreams of living aboard, cruising locally and eventually cruising the world's oceans. If I get to retire one day - cruising on a sailboat would be the way to do it.
I love the feel of a sailboat trimmed, balanced and moving at hull speed, reminds me of surfing, but with a longer ride and sometimes drier.
Not certain whether multihulls are brilliant or immoral as I haven't sailed one yet, but they do seem a bit seductive, the kind of thing you'd think they'd only show pictures of in Playboy or something. Opinions?!
cheers
