Hello from the Persian Gulf?!?
Hello, I am reaquainting myself with Sailnet after a haiatus of several years. Began sailing in the mid-seventies on Mission Bay in San Diego and slowly progressed through the years and three boats. Owned a Dufour 35 for 19 years, which was sailed out of SoCal and Lake Michigan (Muskegon).
My work has taken me to SE Asia and now the Middle East. I am in-between boats right now but may be in the market for something in the 40' range soon. I plan on eventually sailing it to Thailand where it will be permanently berthed near Krabi or Phuket.
There is an extreme scarcity of sailboats in this region  Good deals back home right now - but oh the freight costs are scarry!
I would love to talk to some people who have regional experience in the Gulf and/or passage expereince across the Indian Ocean.
I am grateful for this wonderful site and look forward to making some friends along the way. Some of my most rewarding and pleasurable experiences in life have come while at sea. Take Care. Rob
