Hello all,

Long story short is that I have found a derelict T34C in So Florida but the HIN was ground off of the stern. It has an Atomic 4 which tell me it was manufactured between 1968 and 1973???? It doesn't have a Tartan Plaque on the Companion Way. Tartan tells me it is a T34C and to look in the Lazerette for a HIN and a friend of mine that lives in the area will look on Thursday. I am not sure if Tartan has always put the HIN in the lazerette but it was not mandated until the mid 80s.

The name on the stern is "Sherpa" and the hailing port is Port Saint Lucie, FL. If anyone knows who the owner is or anything else about this boat please reply. I did a search on the USCG site for the name and it only listed 1 sailboat. It is a 37 foot Tartan in California.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Extremely long story short, I found an owner of the boat from 1982 when I found a throw horseshoe with the name Tinker on it. He gave me the Coast Guard Number which I provided to the USCG which in turn got a Coard Guard registration for the boat. With this information I also found a telephone number for the latest owner but never heard from them after I tried to contact them.

You likely won't hear from the current owner. There is a reason why the HIN was ground off.

Your original post is from 2010. I appreciate the update, but what finally happened?? Did you pursue legal means of taking ownership of the boat, despite the missing HIN? Did you find the HIN in the lazerette? Or did you just abandon the whole idea?

A T34C is a nice boat, worth fighting for.
