Hello I'm new here!

Hi, I'm new to sailing for all intensive purposes. I have grown up on the water my entire life but always been on powerboats besides the occasional trip with friends on their sailboats. Given that, I have always been intrigued by sailboats and their beauty. I finally convinced my wife that sailing would be fun for the family (son and two dogs) and we are going to take some classes on Lake Erie. Since she is an accountant and I have to have all my beans counted before I can try to make the sale to her I need some help. Assuming she enjoys the sailing experience, which I am sure she will, I am trying to do some research on what boat might fit our purposes. We would probably sail out of the Port Clinton (Western Lake Erie) area. Most trips would be day trips or long weekends but I would like to be able to take week long trips also as I get more experienced. As I have discovered there are a ridiculous amount of sailboat manufacturers not to mention models. Any advice would be great. Thanks ahead of time.

Welcome aboard!

You'll learn a lot about what kind of boat you want once you've got some sailing time under your belt.

for now, just try to keep your jib out of the water, as it were
