Nother city slicker sailor

Hello to the SN commentariat.

This is Ripple our decrepit but deeply loved 1977 Cherebuni Hunter.

She's not much to look at (the oversize battle 'betsy ross' will help) but fully functional .. once the water supply is fixed. Otherwise if we want to find fun, trouble, sometimes both, with a killer view of Chicago, she's always there.

Current owners are:
Commodore Careless; hasn't been out of harbor since 08.
Captain Clueless; yer humble narrator.
Lieutenant Lively, but she's on shore leave this season, carrying the Capain's midshipman.
Ensign Hopeless; several years in, still can't even cleat her down right yet.

The Commodore is a skilled and experienced if ..... casual sailor. But his lack of involvment lately, simply said, confuses us. The newbies muddle along. Thrust into senior role i'm prepared to take out and bring home crew and guests safely.
We don't sail as much as we should, compared to motoring around for lakefront high holidays. This year in particular has been weak in wind driven joy. But we have all been busy.

Nice community here. I started with searching out some info on nav lighting, saved a few bucks and ended up hangin round for the snark.
Honestly the heavy weather discussion has been VERY informative.
