Hello! in search of information.
Hi, my name is Cami and I am new to this forum.
I´m located in Long Island NY and trying to search for some information about cruising to the Caribbean and South America.
I have plans to leave NY by december and start to head south back home to Argentina on my Beneteau First 26 1986. I´m not an expert sailor and I had never cruise for more than 2 days but I´be been sailing since I am 14-15 years old. I know is not a big boat, but I will be always sailing close to shore and I have no rush at all to complete the trip.
My big concerns:
- is december a good time to leave? if not whats the best time of the year to head south?
- Is the boat to small for cruising?
- Do I need any special license or permit in order to leave the country with the boat and enter other countries?
- I´ve heard that from Trinidad/Venezuela going south there is huge an upwind zone all year round, does anyone know about this situation?
any period of the year that doesn´t happen?
Thanks guys.
