Old Salt

Hello everyone,

Call me Lee.

I have been sailing on and off for around 30 years on small dinghies and cats.
My primary school (year 6&7) had sailing as a sport. I hated other sports like footy, cricket or most outdoor stuff and was introduced to it as a youngster.

A Sabot was my first foray in the sport. The club we sailed at, Cairns Yacht Club in Trinity Inlet, Cairns, Australia, had many small mono hulls to play with.

Boats I have sailed since; Trainer, Heron, Sabot, Laser, Hobie 14, Hobie Turbo, Hobie 16, Paper Tiger, 18 ft Princess day sailer and many more I cant remember.

I have owned a Hobie 14 and a Turbo as well as my favourite catamaran the Paper Tiger.

I know very little terminology but can read the wind, waves and the boat Im on with ease. Sailing terms I know are; Tack (attack the wind), Jibe (weeeeeee lets capsize), About (turn around), Turtle (where did the sky go).

Cheers
Lee

Yet Another Aussie! Welcome aboard, Lee!!

Coming from FNQ, I'm not surprised you took on sailing instead of footy or cricket for a sport. My first foray was Sabots at Whitsunday Yacht Club quite a ways south of you...

Nothing wrong with Paper Tiger's.. great fun can be had there!

The purchase price of a boat is just the admittance fee to the dance...you still have to spend money on the girl...so court one with something going for her with pleasing and desirable character traits others desire as well... or you could find yourself in a disillusioned relationship contemplating an expensive divorce.
