Greetings from Hispaniola
Greetings, all,
I'm a 59-year old long-time ex-pat, originally from Okieland, who has been living and working for the United Nations in Port-au-Prince, Haiti for the past four years. Competent fair-weather sailor with US Sailing Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising, Bareboat Cruising/Charter certifications but would like to get some off-shore/heavy weather time alongside an experienced skipper. Currently working on improving my coastal navigation skills and devouring whatever literature is available in anticipation of buying my own boat in a couple of years.
Sailing opportunities on this side of the island are relatively limited as you might expect, but I get to put my life in jeopardy from time to time on a raggedy 28-foot catamaran that would have quite a tale to tell if it could only speak. At least the water stays on the outside...for now.
Would be willing to assist if anyone needs a hand bringing a boat south after hurricane season...will even bring my own rum!
