Hello,

Nice to meet you.

I'm a Canadian living in Japan who plans to return to Canada and liveaboard on the West Coast (Vancouver, Victoria) in a little while so that my sons will be able to go to junior/senior high school and university there.

I have boating and (some) sailing experience, and between courses and just getting out there, plan to round that out before the move. I'm also a scuba diving instructor (part-time - for fun really) and hold Japanese and Canadian boat captain's licenses.

I've been stalking this and other forums for a while, and hope to pick your brains on a variety of topics.

Good question: My boys are looking forward to it.

They've been sailing, powerboating, snorkelling, kayaking, and I'll soon be certifying the elder as a diver. Like me, they've been raised to love and appreciate the water.

Although they are still talking to me now, because of the "terrible teen" years (:->) the main practical issue is to find a suitable 2 or 3 cabin boat within my budget that has/can be converted into 2 private berths for them with a suitable study and 'chilling-out' space.

I am looking at mooring at either Victoria or Vancouver on the WC of Canada, and living downtown at either of those cities seems pretty cool to them since we are currently living on a remote island, population 14,000, near Okinawa!
