Convert

Hey everyone, I wanted to introduce myself my name is Josh and I am a fairly recent convert to sailing. I am 24 and have been running around in a 22 foot mako center console since I was 14 and it became mine as soon as I could drive... well a few years ago my friend who grew up sailing bought a 1969 Cal 2-30 and I got something to work on. What are friends for? So after some elbow grease and clean quite time on the water that cost $60 a season instead $60 of a trip for gas. I am hooked!

He and I have been sailing the Cal every weekend and more for 3 summers + a few months in the cold cause that is when the wind blows and I am ready to buy a sailboat of my own. I am currently working in a machine shop in PA (entirely too far from the water)saving every penny and plan on getting on to a 30-35 foot boat to live aboard. I sail on the Chesapeake now and plan on taking off in the next two years to spend a couple years sailing around the islands. I am currently looking at a Lippincott 30 as a starter boat, but who knows, there are always new deals popping up. I am trying to get in around $6000 to $8000 and have a solid boat to start. Yea I know it will need some work, but as long as it is nothing major I am pretty skilled with my hands.

Hope to have some good stories to tell everyone sooner rather than later.
