hi from louisiana
hi there, just getting into sailing and am going to be looking for a bunch of advice.
alittle bit about me, im 23 and grew up on the bayou's and swamps of louisiana, i hold a uscg unlimited master for towing vessels and i make my living abord push boats bringing chemicls from bronsville, tx to st. marks fl, and up and down the mississippi river. all thow i currently hang my hat on dry land when not on the tug, when i was 20 till 22 i lived abourd a house boat .
my idea is come the 1st of the year i will be purchasing a boat that is blue water capable and start traviling when im not at work. my work scedual involves me being gone for 28 days at a time the i get 14 off, so i figure with 14 days at a time i could cruse to one location see the place moarn my boat at a local mariner and fly back to work
the vessel im looking hard at is a soverel 36-2. it has a 35hp desiel and fully rigged ready to sail, and a fin keel. if you have any extended experance with this type of boat and why it would or would not make a good live abord id love to hear from you..
looking forward to learning from some of your wisdom
