Hello from Lake Grapevine

In March of this year we purchased our first boat: A 1983 Catalina 30 TRBS. I have been sailing regularly since 1992 with rental clubs, mostly on C22 and Capri 22. When we thought is was time to buy we chose the C30 for its condition, provenance and overall apeal as comfortable boat with a reasonable PHRF for club racing. We try to be on the water at least once a week and in the warmer months at least twice a week. Our club is the Grapevine Sailing Club in Grapevine Texas.

We have been doing OK in the races, speed is good but I feel we can point better. I made a hull cleaning brush by putting a slight curve on a long painter's extension poll. We get the bottom as clean as we can before the race and I have noticed a big difference since we started this practice.

It seems like everyone we know, including the non-sailors, have cruised the BVIs but we have yet to do this. Other than the lake, most of my experience is in and around San Diego bay.

We are members of ASA, US Sailing, and the International Catalina 30 Association.

Welcome aboard fellow Grapevinian. Haven't been out much. Moved here in 07 and had a baby in 08. Hoping to get out more this summer. I'll have to look for you out there.
