mouldy is on a distinguished road
Smile Hello

I am anew member that is considering buying a boat. I have done a little sailing in the past, but I am really a complete novice.
The boat I was considering to buy is a 57ft steel ketch that has had fire damage. It is in Brisbane and if purchased I intended in getting it delivered to me in Phuket Thailand, where I live and was intending to do all the necessary repairs to the boat and refit it.
The boats name is Koara, I was wondering if any member or guest might know this boat, it caught fire in Morten Bay as it was leaving for a cruise.
I am worried that it may have structural damage.
Also when are the best times of year to sail from Brisbane to Phuket Thailand?
All replies would be most welcome.
Bye Martin.

For a self confessed 'complete novice' buying a boat that big is a scary proposition. Buying a boat that big that needs a little work scarier still. Buying a boat that big that, by all accounts, is a thoroughly gutted steel shell seems to me to verge on insanity

You'd be much better to spend however 'little' money this project represented up front on something smaller, and immediately usable.
