sailwatcher is on a distinguished road

Hello, all...

Not sure who might post on Scuttlebutt, but that's where I have posted in the past (and will continue to, I assume). This site seems lots more navigable, though.

My father used to own a monohull, but I have no clue what type/brand/etc. My biological father was in the Navy, and in many ways imbued me with a great love for anything transportation-related as a kid growing up here in San Diego.

The first AC I watched was the 2007 event. I kind of forgot about it, then started following the 2010 AC a few months before it happened. I am fascinated by the technology, and love watching sailing on TV. It can be a very frantic thing, both with the various boat manoeuvres and all the guys running around on the boat trying to do whatever their duty is on the boat.

I don't sail myself, but am learning about the tradition and other specifics about it. Looking forward to more lively conversation on here regarding AC 34 and other related events, and other racing topics.

Welcome aboard... you may already have noticed that this forum doesn't have a strong racing focus, though there are some threads running on the AC campaign(s). Still there is a racing category and you may find the archives interesting reading.
