A newbie returns

I signed on in 2007 and then promptly forgot about it. Now I'm back!
Although I live in England I've done much of my longer distance cruising in USA/Caribbean waters. I sailed for 5 years on Chesapeake Bay and then in 1989 I bought Dan Spurr's Adriana and took off for three years, with wife, daughter and dog, eventually selling up in BVI three years later. After a few years of wage slavery we went back and did it again (minus dog and daughter - they both found new homes) on a 41' ketch.
I now have a ComPac 19 (the only one in England) which we sail on Lake Windermere, Englands largest lake - 10 miles long, 2 miles wide!
I peddle a range of boat cruising kit via my Salty John websites.

Hi, Everyone!

Hi,
Welcome back. Since you are in the UK, was wondering if you know if Anthony Bailey, author of "The Coast of Summer" is still sailing. I can't find out much about him recently, but believe he lives in England. I know it's a big country, but was wondering if he still sails and what happened to his Tartan 27.

Sorry, can't help you there. I know he lived in West Mersea, Essex here in England but that's about it.

I suppose it's inevitable that anyone who takes to the sea in a small boat will have interesting tales to tell, as is the case with many, many forumites.

Back when I was cruising full time you didn't have the opportunity to tell your tales in a blog - what a great facility that is for the adventurer.

My own blog is by necessity retrospective because my more interesting adventures are in the past, but I think it's great the way you can, vicariously, enjoy cruising more widely than it was ever possible to do before by simply clicking on the blog of your favorite voyager!

Thanks, I'll look into it. It helps get through these short cold winter days.
