Moving to Las Vegas

Hi All,

I am moving to Las Vegas from Central Florida in February 2011. I've been sailing for about a year (16' Newport) on the Indian and Banana rivers. I wasw excited to learn that there is actually pretty good sailing out in the desert. I think if it weren't for Lake Mead, I wouldn't have even considered Las Vegas as a place to live.

I'll be selling my beloved Newport (The Skip Wiley) as logistically it is not feasible to move her. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can afford another small sailboat to get back on the water.

I would love to hear from some folks who sail Lake Mead. Any suggestions, stories etc. would be welcome. Are there many people looking for crew on the lake?

Hey to, welcome to SN dude.

There was a dude on here a while back, "LakePirate" I think, who sailed on Mead. Cool guy. Haven't seen him in a while though.

I'm about to start sailing on the lake. . .just bought a 23' Ranger out there, in the process of cleaning her up and getting her ready. Spent my last two weekends at the marina, and everyone out there seems really friendly. I'll see you out there!
