Hello from Deutschland
Hi everyone, I am over here in the EU. My name spells it all. I dont have a Yacht but will be buying a fun boat Zodiac 340. I have many questions after reading some of the threads about the dangers of the tides and the being lost at sea in those small rubber boats.
This one will come with a small outboard 5 ps, reason being, i dont have a boat license and I can only use this small engine legally.
I will primarily be using the boat in Brittany France. But seeing that Brittany is on the atlantic ocean I have great worries of being drifted out to the middle of the Atlantic.
What size anchor should I get to stabalize me from drifting out. Will the motor help me from drifting or its too weak to fight the tide flow? I noticed you all changed paddles. I will surely get real wooden ones just in case. I know I have to get a whole lot of security items for the small boat, but are there anything else I should have to weigh down the boat and prevent it from being blown away by the wind and tides?
When should I use it, when the tide is already in or when the tide has gone out? How far out can I take this boat from a sheltered bay or port? Can I anchor and fish in this boat or will I drift regardless of anchor? How deep a line with anchor should I get? Actually how deep a water can i go in this boat safely?
Sorry for all these foolish questions. Thanks
Zodiac
