a great big canadian hey!...

hi im 42 year old woman who is about to start a new phase of my life.... i am hoping to be able to join a small small crew or be a companion to someone or some people and sail...i am currently more proficient on ice skating, but have always desired to live on the water... i am smart, quick learner and financialy self sufficient to pay my way....would love to hear from people who might know people or have any suggestions as to how i can make this happen... i can be on a plane tomorrow and can be gone for a year or two for sure...so if someone has a role or job to put me into please let me know asap...ps...this is not being done on a whim...just the timing has worked out and i can travel and go now! take care and please take my request into consideration any ideas truly welcomed

Welcome Mopsy... always good to see a BCer join up.

While you're still here you might check out some of the local YCs for some experience, get yourself on a boat as 'new crew' and get some experience that way.

And please be careful. I've generally had great experience with fellow sailors, but there are some weird folks out there. Carefully vet the captain and crew. Don'y go to sea without a scheduled stop relatively early in case you need to jump ship.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find all sorts here that will probably be more than happy to give you their 2 cents

Have you had much experience on sailboats? Sounds like you've got a plan of some sorts in mind, good luck with it!
