Wink Ahoy from Slovenia

Sailors around the world, I'm very happy to join you in this forum and possibly on board.
I'm a young fella from Slovenia, who wishes to learn more about blue water sailing and sailing in general.
I want to cross the Atlantic by sea this autumn (as a crew member/deckhand) so I hope I'll get some connections here.

may the West Wind fill your sails
and the sun be ever rising,

Niko

Thank you,
here I found the info about traveling time (Hitchhiker's guide on sailing and cruising yachts across the oceans of the world.) and once a sailor friend also told me that this is the time to head west.

What would be the best time for you to sail to south america and through where (north/south)???

Thank you again,

Cheers,
Niko

I think you need to do a lot of reading and studying about sailing and cruising. Jimmy Cornell's World Cruising Routes contains plenty of information. But you'll be limited by the skipper's schedule. For now try to do as much sailing as you can and build other valuable skills: navigation, repair, first aid, cooking.

Yeah I know... for now I have just some formal education(ICC boat license, but limited practice. I'm planning to do some longer cruises in the medditerain and then go for the big one. But I never feel limited, I adapt

Thank you rof the tip

Cheers,
Niko
