just recently purchased a Spirit 23' with traler, she's a 78 vintage but seems to be solid. Needs woodwork relacing on upper deck ( alread made new hatch runners) safty handrails are next. External hull (upper) requires a lot of buffing to remove oxidisation, lower hull has a few small blisters, ground out a few, non deeper than 1/4'' so far, will probably do a bottom coat of epoxy/grafite after fairing hull. she draws a little over 2' (swing keel), so I have to learn how to step the mast on my own and launch with some form of tongue extention, but that probably won't be for a few months yet to get her ship shape.
I learned to sail in the early 80s in Bermuda on international one design 10 meter boats, starting as a grinder and working my way around, had sunfish, 14' sail boat (forgot make)now have Hobie 16,but want to do some cruising in my later years,so thats my plan. I live on Inks lake,Texas, retired, pass my time building wooden kayaks and kayak fishing/camping. MM |
