Let the adventure begin!

I am 42 and my wife and I are about to take possession of our first boat a 1975 WD Schock Santana 30. It's in amazing shape! I have NEVER sailed before so i am looking forward to learning and enjoying! Looking forward to meeting people as well as getting tips and ideas on how to modify and upgrade the boat as well as learning!

Good stuff and excellent choice. No tips from me...just a huge welcome to the sailing world. You will not be dissapointed with your choice and decision to sail. Many people here with great knowledge and will help you along. Happy sails.

Racing

Welcome to SailNet and to sailing!

I have not heard of your boat but I looked it up and I see you bought a racing boat. Was that your intention or did you just like that particular boat? For new sailors, crewing on race boats at local sail clubs is an excellent way to learn the rules of the road and other particulars about sailing.

Good luck!

Thanks! Its a racing design but has been used as a pretty comfortable cruiser b y the previous owner. Its got enough amenities for me and I don't plan on doing long trips at this point so its kinda the perfect boat for my needs right now....

Newbie,

You go boy! Get out there! We bought our boat with no knowledge, no experience and no regrets.
