Canadians cruising and working

I'm hoping to learn more about how Canadian cruisers make ends meet on the way - do you work, are you seasonal and lay boat up to return to Canada to work, which countries allow Canadians to work, what requirements or restrictions you have run into, cruising budgets? Looking forward to your responses.

None of the Canadians we met in Florida, the Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean or between Panama and Australia were working. I doubt that is legal in many (any?) places). In most countries the entry stamp in your passport states clearly that you are not allowed to work.
