Gaffers rule

Hi all. Introducing myself to you as Capt Len of the gaff ketch.Thane. in Victoria BC.Thane is a modified Spray. heavily built of yellow cedar (22ton) It's hard to separate man from boat after nearly 40 years of live aboard but you can find an old bio of us at s122176998.online.us/3hsail/mainpage.htm if you are curious .

Pretty cool! Welcome aboard! I looked at a Spray replica 25 years ago, but decided she was too much boat needing too much work at the time. I've come full circle, and sail a 39', 16 ton wood ketch. Alas, she is marconi rigged, though my last boat was a gaff yawl.

I see Thane when I am in Victoria, usually after one of my Around Vancouver Island trips.

I think Canadians have an affinity for gaff rigged boats as we carry them in our pockets.

I have sailed on Duen, another gaff rigged ketch - you probably know the boat.
