New to sailing!

Hello
I always had a passion for sailing and finally I've decided to purchase a second-hand Newbridge Corribee MKiii. Due to my absolute lack of experience in the field of sailing, I thought that it might have been a good idea to join the forum… I welcome any advice and useful tips from forum members!

Only advice: get out there and do it! The first time I sailed was the first time I hanked on my own jib, 1/4 mile past the jetty in the Atlantic. I had spent a winter pouring over books, videos and websites. My son and I also took a course in Sailing and Seamanship from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. So we had much of the theory down. So, just do it!

I suggest you try your first sails in lighter breezes and warm water. It would be good if you had an experienced sailor along.

Where are you? There is probably a sailing school and associated club in your area if there is water.

I think it would be a wonderful idea to join a club asap...since I don't have any experienced sailor to come along with me, I will look for a sailing school to learn the basics!
