Wink old to sailing new to sailnet

Hello folks, although I'd recreationally sailed & raced a fair bit I stumbled into a professional yachting career at 34. I was the oldest deckhand walking the docks of Antibes, didn't speak anything but "Australian" english, and left Australia with my father's words ringing in my ears "this is the biggest mistake of your life". 3 years later anchored off Virgin Gorda, I'm running an 85' charter catamaran and he's swallowing his words, bigtime. Moral of the story is..."live your dream". The pacific ocean is always waiting and ready, go now before your knees can't take the strain or your back isn't up to a beat to weather. So far as i know it we only get one ticket!
I'm land based now with young kids and it's all good. Always wanted to be a father too so the dream continues. Look forward to being part of sailnet and hearing your stories. Did 10 years in BVI running cats', 100 + weeks term charter, so happy to offer any advice sought. Cheers!
