Hello Everybody

I am new to the forum and new to sailing. I just purchased a 1975, 31 foot Dufour and am making upgrades to get her ready to sail. I moved to South Beach, Miami in March and plan to sail the Florida Keys and Bahamas. After I get my sea legs I would like to upgrade to a bigger boat and set sail for Central and South America.

The Dufour his structurally sound but I will be replacing the mast as the old mast snapped at the spreaders during Hurricane Irene. She Lays at Perth Amboy, NJ. I will need a 40 foot aluminum mast. Unless I can get away with an inner sleeve and weld. I would like to know your thoughts on this.

I will need to build a new bench as one of the previous owners took one out to enlarge the galley. I will also need to install a marine head as there is a chemical porto-potty on board now. I will need a new Genoa and a new water pump for the Volvo Diesel. Then she will be ready to set sail.

I will be bothering you guys from time to time, with what are sure to be some obviously newbie questions and for think I would like to apologize and thank you in advance.

My Regards to Everyone,
