Powerboater moving to sailing

Good morning all,

I've been boating with powerboats since 2000, with my most recent boat being a 1971 Aristocraft 19. Over the past few months my wife and I have been sailing with a friend in his Cal20 out of Alameda, and although the weather has been uncooperative, we've had a better time sailing than I ever have had motoring. We're getting ready to take one of the keelboat basics courses that are offered here in the Bay Area, and are looking forward to more sailing in the future.

Thank you everyone for the great forums full of information. I've been using them to supplement the knowledge I'm getting out on the water.

All the best,

Cody

Welcome to Sailnet and to sailing, Cody.

Welcome! You'll probably find that, except for the whole "being on the water" thing, it's an entirely different world.

Bless you Sinner. Your salvation is at hand.

The Bay Area is a great place to learn to sail. If you can become competent on the Bay--and you can--you will do well most anywhere else.

Good Luck!
