Squidd is correct.. it's a common rule on forums and prevents widespread spamming through the PM feature which I'd expect everyone would appreciate.
If you participate in the forums it doesn't take long to get the required posts.. an introductory post, a few in the 'Song Chain' can be fun, and there you are.
Inicdentally you can PM the mods or admin at any time if you have questions for them...
