Goeken

Hi, Scott Goeken not new to boating but new to sailing. I live in North West Iowa and have done a lot of boating on Okoboji and fishing on the Missouri river. Now that my kids are getting old enough I'm looking to get into sailing. I'm starting from scratch and I'm planing to take lessons this spring from the Okoboji yacht club.

I've been eyeing the Hobie 18's. We have a few places where we can go camping that have lakes on them and we could beach launch the boat. My wife thinks that a bigger boat that we could sleep in instead of a tent would be right up her alley. Time will tell. The only problem is there are not a lot of sail boats for sale around my area. I've been looking at various sites and most of the closer boats for sale are in the Minnesota area not to bad of a drive (4 hours or so one way).
