Howdy

Well, a little about me. I'm 30 years old and I grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast from Galveston Bay on down to Laguna Madre primarily on fishing boats, but some floating condos to. I've always had a traveling bug, hence the moniker of TravelinJack, a nickname my dad gave me as a kid. He's called me T.J. for short ever since. I live up in Austin, TX for the time being and a military school buddy of mine got me addicted to sailing a few years ago on a Laser and a Catalina 27'. I've always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and discovered that going 35 knots flat out on a power boat isn't near as exiting as 7 knots heeled over on a sailboat.

This past weekend I saved a C-22 from getting cut up and sent to the landfill. I believe it's a 78 or 79. I'm waiting for the guy I got it from to locate the title. I got started on the resto in no time and have the boat almost stripped down. Since this is my first foray into an overhaul of a boat, I plan on starting a thread to document my progress and ask my questions there. My fiance is in the navy so the build needs to be finished by June as I am Chicago bound for 6 months, and then who knows where after that when she gets her duty assignment. The traveler in me is definitely happy about this arrangement.

Thanks for reading,
T.J.

Congrats on the "new" boat!

I would suggest starting a blog also to document your progress. I have a few of them and they are super easy to start and keep up. I like using Google's Blogger system.

Anyhow, what kind of work is the boat needing? How about some pictures?

Much appreciated!! Hey Perithead, I started a resto thread (hopefully in the proper forum section) here: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-m...tml#post820701

Pictures and all. I set up a blog as you suggested, seems like a good idea as it would be cool to be able to document my upcoming travels as well.

Thanks,
T.J.
