Hello

Hi all, I'm so new to sailing that I haven't even been on a sail boat yet! I'm
54 years old and making plans for retirement. I live in central Washington and
I have a daughter that lives in Seattle. I hope to relocate near the Seattle
area in the next few years and learn to sail. I won't be buying a boat soon but
I have been looking at ads and getting a feel for what I might want. I've been
looking at older racer/cruisers like cals, tartans etc..

Seems like every time I do a search on the net this forum comes up so I
thought I sign up and say HI! I'm sure I'll be doing more reading than posting.
This forum has been a big help so far, thanks!

jackdale will become famous soon enough
Welcome aboard.

The PNW is a great place to learn to sail.

I might suggest taking some lessons and chartering to find out what you like in a boat. Also visit a few dealers and boat shows, aand "kick a few tires."

Thanks for the advice Jackdale. I checked with my daughter and she's looking forward to
taking some lessons with me. Should be some good father/daughter time if nothing else!

.. and that's a good thing!

Welcome to the forum. Are you sure you don't want to buy a boat next week (maybe a 50 footer?) and head for Hawaii next month on $10 a day?

... sorry - a bit of an inside joke, I suppose...
